Hon. Julius Genachowski
Chairman
Federal Communications Commission
445 12th St. S.W.
Washington, DC 20010

Dear Chairman Genachowski,

The Minority Media and Telecommunications Council wishes to commend you and the Commission for your continued efforts to extend broadband to everyone in the nation and close the digital divide.

Achieving universal broadband access, adoption, and informed use is the greatest civil rights issue of the 21st century and is of great moment to our constituencies. Connect 2 Compete and the Digital Literacy Corps are tremendous steps toward ensuring millions of citizens have access to this essential service that is necessary to survive and compete in the Digital Age.

These programs embody the ideals MMTC has long sought: effective use of public-private partnerships, active digital literacy training, and provision of telecommunications services to the disadvantaged.

We thank you, the Commission, and all of the organizations involved in this endeavor for taking these vital steps to bridge the digital divide. We look forward to substantial and solid advances in adoption and digital literacy thanks to these initiatives and others it is sure to inspire.

Sincerely,

Hon. Henry Rivera
