FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell to Join Commissioners Jessica Rosenworcel, Mignon Clyburn, and Others at April 10th Celebration
Washington, DC (April 4, 2013): The Minority Media and Telecommunications Council is proud to celebrate women’s history with many phenomenal FCC women leaders, just one week away. We are pleased to announce that Commissioner Robert McDowell will also be joining the celebration, sharing his stories of the remarkable women he has worked with over his years at the FCC, including his all-woman staff.
FCC Commissioners Jessica Rosenworcel and Mignon Clyburn will provide the opening and closing stories, respectively, following an introduction by former Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate. Other storytellers include former Commissioners Kathleen Abernathy and Gloria Tristani, Kathy Brown, Hon. Karen Kornbluh, Deborah Lathen, and Hon. Cathy Sandoval.
Of 79 commissioners appointed since 1934, there have been 15 female commissioners, of whom one was Asian (Rachelle Chong), one was African American (Mignon Clyburn), and two were Hispanic (Patricia Diaz Dennis and Gloria Tristani). As we celebrate the contributions of women at the FCC, we celebrate the diversity of viewpoints that is needed to lead an increasingly diverse America.
