On July 16th, from 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm, MMTC presents “A Conversation with a Media Mogul: Accessing Capital and Reversing Stereotypes of People of Color.”
MMTC’s dynamic President and CEO Kim Keenan goes one-on-one with entertainment industry icon Debra Martin Chase, a former lawyer who broke the Hollywood glass ceiling to become the first African American female producer to land a production deal with a major television and film studio - the ABC/Disney film and television companies.
Martin Chase is an Emmy nominated and Peabody Award winning television and motion picture producer whose company, Martin Chase Productions, has been affiliated with the Walt Disney Company since 2001 and been based at the ABC Television Network since 2012. Much of her work has focused upon women, tweens, dance and music.
Martin Chase has spent years working toward diversity and inclusion in film and television, influencing perceptions of minorities and women through her work. She has served as an executive producer for numerous blockbuster movie franchises, films, and documentaries including The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Cheetah Girls, The Princess Diaries, The Preacher’s Wife, Courage Under Fire, and Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream. Her new romantic sitcom, Zoe Ever After, starring Brandy Norwood, is scheduled to begin airing early next year.
Immediately following the interview, MMTC will induct Martin Chase into its Hall of Fame during the Access to Capital Awards Reception from 5:45 pm to 8:00 pm.
