On July 16th, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, industry experts will discuss challenges and opportunities tech entrepreneurs face outside of Silicon Valley in today’s digital economy during the panel “Investing Locally, Empowering Globally: The Tech Landscape Beyond the Valley” at MMTC’s Access to Capital and Telecom Policy Conference. Panelists will also highlight technology policy issues that impact start-ups and entrepreneurs.
The panel will begin with opening remarks by Larry Irving, former Administrator of the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration, appointed by President Bill Clinton. As a senior advisor to the President, Vice President, and Secretary of Commerce, Irving was a principal architect of the Clinton Administration’s telecommunications, Internet, and E-Commerce policies and initiatives. Currently, Irving heads Irving Strategies, a consulting firm providing strategic planning and market development services to international telecommunications and information technology companies. He is also the Co-Chair of the Internet Innovation Alliance.
